EFFECT OF TRAINING ON REPLICABILITY OF ASSESSMENTS OF SKELETAL MATURITY (GREULICH-PYLE)

Abstract
Interobserver and intraobserver differences were analyzed at 6 stages of a program of training in the assessment of the skeletal maturity of the hand-wrist, using the Greulich-Pyle Atlas. When reading the atlas was the only training, the differences were comparatively large. When the training consisted of reading the atlas, assessing 30 roentgenograms, and discussing the differences between the skeletal ages assigned, replicability was improved and approximated that reported for experienced observers.
