Abstract
Avg. portal venous pressure of rats was 15 cm. of water in the control period, 9 cm. after bleeding to an arterial pressure of 45 cm., and 14.5 cm. immediately after blood replacement. Direct microscopy of the transilluminated rat liver revealcd narrowing of sinusoids and collecting veins after bleeding which was reversed by transfusion and restored to normal caliber whether recovery followed or not. Keywords
