Abstract
An investigation of 55 cases of the Paterson-Kelly syndrome showed a high incidence of iron deficiency, achlorhydria, and subnormal vitamin-Bl2 absorption. It is suggested that this syndrome is associated with the genetically determined gastric atrophy found in patients with pernicious anemia and that iron deficiency is a secondary feature. Keywords
