Solid-state studies. Part II. Raman- and infrared-active carbonyl stretching vibrations of four methylbenzenetricarbonylchromium complexes

Abstract
The solid-state Raman- and i.r.-active carbonyl stretching vibrations of hexamethyl-, pentamethyl-, 1,2-dimethyl-, and methyl-benzenetricarbonylchromium are discussed in terms of a vibrational factor-group which is different from the crystallographic factor-group. All the spectra may be considered, in first-order approximation, as arising in band sets from the carbonyl stretching vibrations of the molecule in dilute solution.
