Mössbauer Studies of Ferro- and Ferricyanide Supercomplexes with 3d Transition Elements

Abstract
The results of systematic Mössbauer studies of the ferro- and ferricyanide supercomplexes with 3d transition elements (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) are reported. It is concluded that the coordination number of Fe(II) remains six, and a metal—metal charge transfer is invoked to explain the data. The nearly double values of quadrupole splittings in ferricyanide supercomplexes, as compared to K3Fe(III) (CN)6 are explained.
