Abstract
An attempt is made to separate larval instars of Pterohelaeus darlingensis using head capsule widths but inconsistency in the rate of growth between successive stadia and possible variation in the number of stadia create overlapping of peaks in the plot of frequency distribution. An arbitrary system of division, giving four groups, using body length is proposed. Keywords
