Abstract
Acne, a common inflammatory skin disorder beginning usually in adolescence but occasionally in later years, is distressing for those whom it afflicts, principally because of its customary localization on the face. Fortunately, the disease usually disappears, and in the interval of months or years between onset and resolution, therapy, although not curative, can achieve satisfactory suppression of activity in the majority of patients.There remains, however, a small number of acne patients with severe and extensive disease who may show little or no response to intensive therapeutic efforts, including the use of high doses of oral tetracycline (2 to 3 . . .
