Abstract
Two methods for the analysis of a multidimensional subjective variation were described: (1) a direct multidimensional ratio scaling method previously developed by the author and (2) a revised method of similarity analysis that is derived in the present paper from recent investigations of the mechanism involved in similarity judgment. Both methods were applied to data from four experiments covering a variety of perceptual and judgmental areas. It was demonstrated (a) that the results of both methods were in very close agreement, and (b) that these results were simple and easily interpretable. Keywords
