Abstract
The transformations of well-characterized tridymite of different origine are related with stacking disorder. Well-ordered tridymite shows a transformation effect with high heat of transition at 115°C and another effect with low heat at 165°C. Disordered samples show a shift of the first transformation effect towards higher temperatures. The peak of this reaction can be merged in the peak of the second reaction. Cristobalite structurally mixed with tridymite produces another effect at about 250°C. In this case the ratio of reaction heats of the tridymite transformations may be reverse. Keywords
