Abstract
It was established that the newborn''s blood contains very low amounts of total lipids (478[plus or minus]6mg%), total cholesterol (67.2[plus or minus]4mg%), esterified cholesterol (56[plus or minus]4mg%, and lipid P (3.67[plus or minus]0.4mg%) as against the maternal blood''s values: total lipids = 712 [plus or minus] 12mg%, total cholesterol = 221.5[plus or minus]8mg%, esterified cholesterin = 151.1[plus or minus]11 mg%, lipid P = 7.15[plus or minus]0.5mg%. In 100 examined samples, the relative amounts of the maternal serum''s lipoprotein fractions are: alpha = 28.3[plus or minus]0.9%, beta = 71.7[plus or minus]0.9%; in the majority of the cases the beta fraction was lacking entirely in the newborn''s sera; while in some cases this was extremely low (30. [plus or minus]1.9 %).Keywords
