Abstract
331 patients were given combined streptomycin-paraaminosalicylic acid (PAS) therapy tor 4 mos. or more. Results to date have been very favorable. Success is at least partly dependent upon the avoidance of interruption of therapy, the extent of the lesion, and admn. for 12 mos. or more. Prior PAS therapy and in vitro PAS resistance have just as adverse an influence on results with prolonged streptomycin-PAS retreatment as prior streptomycin therapy and in vitro streptomycin resistance. The significance of "partial" relapses characterized by new roentgenographic shadows, pleurisy with effusion or the appearance of cavity without accompanying positive bacteriology, after apparently successful completion of prolonged streptomycin-PAS treatment has yet to be detd. Keywords
