Abstract
Some known results on density currents in liquids are discussed, and the geometry of the frontal regions and of the upcurrents in the region ahead of them is shown to be similar to that of some thunderstorm outflows and sea‐breeze fronts. The detailed structure of the frontal region of laboratory density flows is described. An internal Froude number has about the same value in the model and in the atmosphere. Keywords
