Abstract
The presence of a peritrophic membrane around the meconium of mosquito pupae is reported. This membrane is described from serial sections and live dissections. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a peritrophic membrane formed in the pupal stage of any holometabolous Insect. A remnant of this meconial peritrophie membrane frequently appears as a mass in the blood bolus of blood-fed females. Keywords
