Abstract
Methadone and 3,3-dimethylamino-1,1-diphenylalkyl cyanides differed in their reaction with cyanogen bromide; the cyanides gave the expected 3-cyanomethylamino-1,1-diphenylalkyl cyanides, but methadone gave 2-ethylidene-5-methyl-3,3-diphenyltetrahydrofuran. Hydrolysis of 3-cyanomethylamino-1,1-diphenylalkyl cyanides gave 2-iminopyrrolidines.Keywords
