Abstract
Diagnostic flexible cystoscopy in an office setting was evaluated during an 11-month study encompassing 105 examinations of 92 patients. The procedure was accomplished easily and quickly and with a substantial reduction in patient discomfort: 92% patients experienced little or no pain during the examination. In addition, 75% of the patients who had previously undergone rigid cystoscopy preferred the flexible instrument. There were technical problems or incomplete examinations in five cases (5%). Flexible fiberoptic cystoscopy appears ideally suited for office evaluation of the lower genitourinary tract. Keywords
