Abstract
The citrus blackfly, Aleurocanthus woglumi Ashby, has a diurnal flight activity apparently stimulated by light at dawn. Males dominated in flight in the morning hours and females in the afternoon. The vertical flight zone of citrus blackfly was generally restricted to the height of the tree canopy since 96% or more were caught between 0.6 and 2.4 m above the ground within an infested citrus grove with a tree canopy height ranging 3–4 m. A significantly greater number of adults was trapped at a height of 1.5 m compared with other heights. Thus 1.5 m was proposed as the optimal height for hanging citrus blackfly traps for detection survey in citrus groves. There was no difference between sexes in height preference. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
