Recently developed methods for the oxidation of partially protected sugars are reviewed. The selectivity and synthetic utility of the various methods are discussed: 1. Oxidations in Dimethyl Sulfoxide [with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, acetic anhydride, phosphorus(V)-oxide, and other reagents] 2. Oxidation with Ruthenium(VIII)-oxide 3. Oxidation with Chromium(VI)-oxide 4. Other Methods of Oxidation
