Abstract
The effect of drying temperature on subsequent fat extractions was investigated. Equal aliquots of homogenized house sparrow (Passer domesticus) were dried to constant weight at 40, 75, 100, and 120 °C and by freeze-drying, and equal aliquots of homogenized meadow vole (Microtus pennsylvanicus) were dried to constant weight at 40 and 120 °C. Total fat, extracted in a Goldfisch fat extractor with petroleum ether, did not differ among temperature treatments. We suggest that loss of volatile fatty acids is similar at the temperatures we used. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
