Abstract
The overall rates of vibrational relaxation in the A 2Σ+ state of NCO are slow compared with its radiative lifetime of 170 nsec. There is, on the other hand, a fast relaxation between levels known to be in Fermi resonance and only the lowest level of each Fermi resonance group is observed in emission. Progressions in the ground state bending frequency can be observed in the emission spectra and demonstrate clearly the Renner splitting in the ground electronic state. Keywords
