The Single-Subject Methodology in Clinical Practice

Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the single-subject methodology in clinical practice. This methodology can be used to contribute to a cumulative body of professional knowledge, as well as to evaluate clinical effectiveness. The paper discusses guidelines on the collection of reliable and valid data over time and the selection and use of on appropriate single-subject design. Clinicians are encouraged to follow those guidelines that are consistent with their clinical constraints and goals for each case. Several unresolved issues involving utilization of the model are addressed.
