Abstract
Measurements of the paramagnetic resonances in single crystals of x‐irradiated germanium‐doped quartz have been carried out. The g tensors have been obtained and the hyperfine structure has been partially interpreted. Two radiation‐damage centers are found with similar structures. A model for the centers is suggested, consisting of an unpaired electron located on an impurity center composed of a substitutional germanium atom surrounded by four oxygen atoms with an alkali ion in an adjacent interstitial position on a twofold axis. Keywords
