Abstract
The time course of luciferyl adenylate formation in the reaction catalyzed by firefly luciferase (EC 1.13.12.7) has been followed. The properties of luciferyl adenylate, enzymatically or chemically synthesized, as substrate of luciferase, have been compared. The potential use of luciferyl adenylate for luciferase detection is here proposed. Keywords
