Extensive Verrucous Sporotrichosis of Long Duration

Abstract
A case of verrucous sporotrichosis of 21 years' duration, involving the entire left thigh and buttock, is reported. Review of the literature failed to reveal a case of comparable duration and extensiveness. Similarities of this process (in morphology, histopathology, chronicity, and contiguous spread over a large area) to the chronic, localized, cutaneous form of North American blastomycosis are discussed. The verrucous variety of sporotrichosis may represent a type analogous to the localized form of cutaneous blastomycosis.
