THE STATUS OF HIGH ENERGY SPECTROSCOPIC STUDIES OF HIGH Tc SUPERCONDUCTORS

Abstract
A partial review of high energy spectroscopic studies of the new superconductors is given. We attempt to summarize the evidence on the ground state electronic configuration of these materials, the "valency" of Cu, the strength of elecrton-electron correlation, and the nature of the hole states which apparently lead to superconductivity.
