Abstract
The Ti2 and V2 molecules have been shown to exist over liquid titanium and vanadium at temperatures above 2050°K. Using information derived from a combination of effusion and mass‐spectrometric techniques, the dissociation energies of Ti2 and V2 have been estimated from the ratio of the dimeric and monomeric species in equilibrium with the liquid metals: The values as obtained by the second‐law method are and and by the third‐law are and .
