Abstract
Summary Carbonic anhydrase activity was found in the epiphysis of endochondral bone and not in cartilage or ossified material. These findings, taken together with earlier negative results on epiphyseal growth following CA inhibition, lead to the hypothesis that the CA activity in the epiphyseal region may be due to undifferentiated osteogenic cells, some of which are precursors for hemopoiesis.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
