Line Shapes in Soft X-Ray Absorption Spectra of Solidified Rare Gases

Abstract
We have performed measurements of the shape of the absorption lines due to transitions from the shell in solid Ne and the shell in solid Ar. It was found that the asymmetric and the "window" line shapes seen in the absorption spectra of the gases are preserved in the solids.
