There are relatively few cases of chronic recurrent pancreatitis reported in children. Davis8 et al. report a case in an 8-year-old boy that followed a known acute episode by 8 months. Davis referred also to 3 additional cases that have been reported in the literature as of that date and stated that in all probability cases of a milder nature are not recognized. Chronic recurrent pancreaatitis is undoubtedly much more common than that small number of cases would indicate.8 Milder forms of the disease are not recognized, since confirmation of the diagnosis is difficult.
