Abstract
The lifetime and several quenching rates have been measured for the a 3Π0+ state of BrCl by means of laser-induced time-resolved fluorescence. The vibrational levels were found to be thermalized so that about 92% of the decay was from the v′=0 and v′=1 levels with a combined observed lifetime of 18.5±3 μsec. Quenching rates for BrCl, Cl2, He, and air are 33×103 sec−1 Torr−1, 4×103 sec−1 Torr−1, 3.8×103 sec−1 Torr−1, and 53×103 sec−1 Torr−1, respectively. Keywords
