Abstract
The triboluminescence of sodium chloride was measured by shaking the grain material in a flat pan in an axial direction. The glow curves were measured over periods longer than 270 min. The influence of radiation dose was investigated in a dose range of 0.1 Gy and 3 kGy. Saturation occurs at 1.5 kGy. The total light output measured for triboluminescence is more than a factor of 192 of that observed for lyoluminescence depending on the integration interval. Triboluminescence was also measured for other alkali halides such as LiF (TLD-100), NaBr and LiCl using the same apparatus and glow curve patterns different from that of NaCl were observed. Keywords
