Abstract
Puromycin fails to alter minimal oxygen consumption of rats treated with thyroxine, provided the rectal temperatures of these rats are maintained at 37.8 degrees to 38.1 degrees C. The previously reported puromycin-induced decline in basal metabolic rate of thyroxine-treated rats may have been due to the hypothermia produced by this drug. Keywords
