Abstract
A method of obtaining detailed post-mortem radiographs with a fine-gram film is described. The radiographic features of spina bifida and of lumbar kyphosis are discussed. The routine clinical radiographs of 200 infants with spina bifida cystica are reviewed. Fifty-five of these were found to have lumbar kyphosis. A method of classification is given on the basis of the number of lumbar vertebrae involved and the presence or absence lumbar kyphosis. The frequency of lumbar kyphosis occurring with sacs in the thoracolumbar region is noted and a possible explanation given. Keywords
