Abstract
Flame‐fused MnO single crystals show continuous ``absorption'' in the near‐infrared region and absorption peaks near 0.1 ev, both strongly dependent on the excess oxygen content in the crystal. Evidence indicates that a precipitated phase, probably Mn3O4, is responsible for the scattering and absorption. Hydrogen treatment converts the MnO crystal from p to n type as measured thermoelectrically. The optical and mechanical properties of the MnO are altered by hydrogen treatment. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
