Abstract
Disac-charidase deficiency is a not uncommon condition which may be diagnosed with a high degree of certainty by taking a single radiograph of the abdomen after the patient has ingested a disaccharide barium-sulphate mixture. Difficulties may be encountered in interpreting the radiographs obtained from patients with small bowel disease other than uncomplicated disaccharidase deficiency. In these cases it is necessary to compare the films with those taken using another test sugar or with a barium sulphate preparation such as Micropaque liquid which does not contain any hydrophilic substance. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
