Abstract
A new resonance at 3993 ± 2 keV has been found in the 15N(α,γ)19F reaction corresponding to a level at 7165.7 ± 1.0 keV in 19F which decays primarily to the 9/2− level at 4032 keV (94 ± 2%) and weakly to the 7/2− level at 3999 keV (6 ± 2%). The decay scheme, angular distributions, and radiative width (ωγ = 1.15 ± 0.23 eV) together with some crude estimates of α widths imply Jπ is most likely 11/2− The lifetime of the 9/2− level was measured using the DSAM to be τ = 87 ± 16 fs. The decay properties of the 11/2− and 9/2− levels agree well with the predictions for the 11/2− and 9/2− members of the K = 1/2− band in 19F.Keywords
