Abstract
Continued advances in video technology have made video-assisted transurethral resection of the prostate (video TURP) an easy, reliable, and affordable option available to all urologists. Smaller video cameras with improved resolution, combined with more compact and easily mobile video systems, can be utilized in the cystoscopy suite or main operating room. Photo documentation with either videotape, hard-copy prints taken from the video image, or direct 35-mm transparencies can be utilized for patient documentation, as well as for teaching. The multisystem capability and ease of handling of available video systems make video TURP an important adjunct to routine endourologic procedures.
