Infrared Spectra of Mixtures of α- and β-D-Glucose Pentaacetate

Abstract
Anaerobic glycolysis proceeded rapidly for 3 hours at linear rates in suspension of mitochondria obtained from the Clondman 591 melanoma, when these are supplemented with a heat stable, dialyzable component of the supernatant fluid. Mitochondrial glycolysis was stimulated by insulin in vitro, but that in the supernatant'' was unaffected. It was concluded that hormonal regulation of glucose phosphorylation occurs in the mitochondria and is under hormonal control therein.
