Abstract
The mechanism of enzymatic reduction of TTC was investigated using centrifugal fractions of rat tissue homogenates. Soluble amino acid dehydro-genases of the rat kidney directly reduce TTC under anaerobic conditions. Triose phosphate dehydrogenases reduce TTC only when mitochondria are present. The component of mitochondria necessary for the mediation of electrons to TTC could be extracted from the particles. Keywords
