Abstract
To the Editor: We were interested to read the report by Fisher et al.1 in the July 2 issue, confirming that higher estrogen-receptor levels in breast carcinoma were associated with a greater probability of disease-free survival. In our study,2 patients with estrogen-receptor-positive carcinomas had a longer disease-free interval, a longer survival after mastectomy, and a longer interval between recurrence and death. Recently, we measured estrogen-receptor status in 190 primary carcinomas of the uterine cervix to assess whether this factor is of similar prognostic value.During staging of the tumor according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics classification, an . . .Keywords
