Detection of Vaccinia Antigen and Antibody by Counterelectrophoresis

Abstract
Counterelectrophoresis (CEP) for detection of vaccinia antigen and antibody is described. This method gives precipitation lines and reactions of immunological identity in less than 1 h. Moreover it is 5 times more sensitive than immunodiffusion (ID). CEP as well as ID are not sensitive enough to be used for the demonstration of vaccinia antibody in vaccinated persons.
