Abstract
A theory is presented supporting a geometrical explanation for physiological height vertigo being a distance vertigo through visual destabilization of postural balance when the distance between the eyes and visible stationary contrasts becomes critically large. Physiological and posturographic data obtained under natural height vertigo conditions are consistent with this hypothesis. Keywords
