Adsorption of β-radioactive 8Li on single crystal surfaces: Thermal desorption spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments

Abstract
Experiments with β-radioactive 8Li atoms adsorbed on clean and oxygen covered W(110) and Ru(0001) surfaces are presented. The detection of the decay electrons allows experiments with adsorbates at extremely low coverages (10−5 monolayers). Nuclear spin relaxation and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments are described beside radiation detected thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS), a new version of TDS experiments.
