Abstract
CONGENITAL aortic stenosis has been regarded in the past as a relatively benign condition in childhood.1 2 3 However, sudden death from this lesion has been emphasized in more recent publications, and in reported series sudden death has occurred in 4 to 18 per cent of the cases.4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Since surgical relief of aortic stenosis is currently available, it becomes of paramount importance to select for operation the patient whose life may be in jeopardy.
