Abstract
The applicability and accuracy of the hyperspherical-coordinate method for the study of reduced-dimensional models of two-electron atoms and ions is discussed. We have calculated excitation spectra and ground-state wave functions and compared them with their exact values, and with the values obtained within different modifications of the Hartree-Fock approach. Keywords
