Abstract
The effect of false alarms and correct detections in taste threshold determinations caused by variations in signal presentation probabilities were studied. A modified method of constant stimuli was used. Results indicate that a simple threshold theory with correction for guessing cannot account for these data. A more sophisticated threshold theory can do as well as signal detectability theory. Keywords
