RF-Induced Steps in Resonant Josephson Junctions

Abstract
We have studied experimentally the RF-induced steps in long Josephson junctions, varying the external microwave frequency in a range covering the junction geometrical resonance. We have observed a large variety of phenomena, going from a dependence of the step amplitudes on their parity, to a strong asymmetric behavior with respect to the junction resonance frequency, to a very high sensitivity to the external RF power. A comparison of our results with the existing theories is also reported.
