Abstract
Comparative measurements of differential cross sections for 23S and 21S excitations of helium in He+ on He collisions at an incident energy of 150 eV are presented. These processes are isolated from the other n=2 excitations by detecting the scattered ions in coincidence with the recoil metastable atoms. A simple three-state model is proposed to interpret semi-quantitatively these excitation processes. Keywords
