Rat Lymphoid Leukemia of T Cell Type Induced by 7,12-Dimethylbenz(α)anthracene

Abstract
Lymphoid leukemia induced by 7,12-dimethylbenz(.alpha.)anthracene (DMBA) in rats and maintained by serial i.p. transplantations in newborn rats was subjected to immunological and enzymological characterization. The Thy-1 antigen positivity gave evidence for the T cell origin of the leukemia studied. Expression of cell surface complement binding receptors and patterns of cytoplasmic acid phosphatase and nonspecific acid .alpha.-naphthyl acetate esterase enzymes drew the attention to the dominance of lymphoblasts and prolymphocytes.
