Isolation of a Pl Agent (Chlamydia, Bedsonia) from Ticks (Argas (P.) Arboreus) Parasitic on the White-Necked Cormorant (Phalacrocorax Carbo) in Ethiopia

Abstract
Several instances of natural infection with agents of the psittacosis-lymphogranuloma venereum group (PL) have been reported in sea birds (Meyer, Amer. J. Opthalmol. 63: 1225/199-1246/220, 1967), but only one of a PL isolate from ectoparasites of these birds. This was an isolate from chiggers (Trombiculidae) on a shearwater (Puffinus baroli) in the USSR (Terskikh, Cheltsov-Bebutov, Kuborina & Keleinikov, Vopr. Virus. 6: 131–35, 1961). A recent review of PL isolates from ectoparasites is given by Eddie, Radovsky, Stiller & Kumada (Amer. J. Epidemiol. 90: 449–60, 1969).
