Abstract
Four experiments to control the larval stage were conducted. Seven insecticides were used at 8 oz. toxicant/80 lb. seed in 2 greenhouse tests. Methoxychlor, DDT and dematon failed to give control. Lindane, aldrin and dieldrin gave above 90% and Thimet gave above 50% control in both tests. These 4 materials were then used in a small plot test at 8, 4, and 2 oz. toxicant/100 lb. seed. Lindane, aldrin and dieldrin at the 8 and 4 oz. rates gave above 90% control. Thimet failed to give control at these rates. Dieldrin at 1 oz. toxicant/ 100 lb. seed gave satisfactory control in a large field test. Keywords
